Dino grew up on the beaches of South Carolina, surfing and working in his father’s souvenir stores.  Through the message of a tract handed to him by a man carrying a cross walking down the beach, he gave his life to Jesus at the age of 18.  He began serving in a local church doing whatever needed to be done, and eventually went to Bible College in Baton Rouge. His heart to serve continued to grow stronger as he volunteered in inner city bus ministry and youth ministry during his years in Bible College.
 
After graduating, he served as youth pastor for several years until 1993, when he and his wife DeLynn founded Healing Place Church with the single purpose to be a healing place for a hurting world.  They wanted nothing more than to be able to reach out to the poor and hurting in Baton Rouge, so they served the community any way they could, and lives were touched with hope.  As the church has steadily grown, the heart to serve has not changed; it has only increased its capacity.  
 
Now over 6,000 people attend each weekend at eight HPC locations.  And every week hundreds of volunteers serve in outreaches – cooking hot breakfasts for the homeless, helping ex‑prisoners re-enter society, caring for AIDS orphans, giving roses to ladies working at local strip clubs, and reaching the poor through free medical and dental clinics and many other outreaches.  Serving is clearly the DNA of Healing Place Church.
 
Another expression of the calling and passion for the poor whom God has given Dino Rizzo was shown when he co‑founded The Association of Related Churches, which in its short history has already planted 63 churches across the United States.  In 2007, those 63 churches gave $7 million to worldwide missions.  He also co‑founded Go Global Missions, a group designed to develop missionaries and connect missions organizations together.  But his most prized accomplishment is marrying his sweetheart DeLynn and having three incredible children: McCall, Dylan and Isabella.
 
He has spoken at several national conferences and has taught leaders and pastors all over the world to serve how Jesus served. His heart inspires the body of Christ to act with bold love as they step out of their comfort zones, abandon their fears, and connect with others of all types and in all places.  And in all of it, for Dino Rizzo it is still about reaching the world by serving one – for the glory of God..
